Department of State and Regional Development

A directory profiling over 700 companies and research organisations based in NSW engaged in biotechnology and related life sciences can be found in the NSW Life Sciences Directory. The directory is produced by the NSW Department of State and Regional Development as part of the NSW Government's BioFirst strategy to promote life science research and commercialisation.

Two directories have been produced by the NSW Office for Science and Medical Research (OSMR):

These two directories detail the research currently being undertaken in NSW within universities and associated research centres, health and medical research organisations, hospital-based research organisations, Centres of Excellence, CSIRO divisions, Cooperative Research Centres headquartered in NSW, and independent research institutions.

The OSMR provides a list of the Key NSW Medical Research Institutes and organisations in NSW.

The OSMR have also created a website called the Research Roadmap, designed as an accessible and comprehensive introduction to the regulatory framework applicable to life sciences-based research, innovation and product development in NSW.  The Human Health section of the Roadmap provides information relevant to all medical and health sciences research and innovation, excluding medical devices (see separate section).

NSW Area Health Services

There are 8 Area Health Services in NSW that have the main responsibility for public health care delivery in a wide range of settings, from primary care posts in the remote outback and rural areas to metropolitan tertiary health centres.
